Preguntas Frecuentes

What is my take-home on 250,000 RUB per month in Russia?

On 250,000 RUB monthly gross (3,000,000 RUB annual): NDFL = 13% on first 2,400,000 (312,000 RUB) + 15% on next 600,000 (90,000 RUB) = 402,000 RUB per year, or 33,500 RUB per month. Net monthly take-home = 216,500 RUB. Effective tax rate = 13.40%.

Do I pay pension contributions from my Russian salary?

No. In Russia, pension, medical, and social insurance contributions are paid entirely by the employer on top of your gross salary. The only deduction from your pay is NDFL (personal income tax). This is different from countries like the US or Canada where employees co-contribute.

How much does it cost an employer to pay me?

Total employer cost is roughly 130% of your gross salary. Pension fund: 22% (with reduced 10% above the annual cap of about 2,225,000 RUB per year), medical insurance: 5.1%, social insurance: 2.9%, and accident insurance: 0.2% to 8.5% depending on industry. On a 3,000,000 RUB salary, the employer pays around 3,900,000 RUB total per year.

What is the Russian minimum wage in 2026?

The federal minimum wage (MROT) in 2026 is approximately 22,440 RUB per month for full-time work. Regional minimums are higher: Moscow around 24,801 RUB, St. Petersburg around 23,500 RUB. Wages cannot legally fall below the regional minimum.

Are bonuses taxed at the same rate?

Yes, bonuses count as labor income and use the same progressive NDFL brackets. A large bonus can push part of your annual income into a higher bracket, but only the portion above the threshold is taxed at the higher rate. Your salary slices are not retroactively re-taxed.

How is the calculator different from old Russian payroll tools?

Most legacy tools still assume the pre-2025 flat 13% NDFL rate. This calculator uses the 2025 progressive 13/15/18/20/22% brackets. If you earn above 2.4 million RUB per year, the new calculation shows higher tax than the old flat-rate tools, which is the correct legal amount.

Does the calculator handle Highly Qualified Specialist (HQS) status?

HQS workers earning above 750,000 RUB per quarter use the same progressive resident rates from day one, even if they have not yet been in Russia for 183 days. The calculator works correctly for both standard residents and HQS workers, since they share the same brackets.
