What is the current GST rate in Singapore?

GST is 9% since 1 January 2024 (raised from 8% in 2023, and 7% before that). To add GST, multiply by 1.09. To find GST in a $109 inclusive price, divide by 12.111 to get the $9 GST portion.

Is tipping expected in Singapore?

Tipping is not customary in Singapore. Most restaurants add a 10% service charge plus 9% GST, often shown as +/+ on the menu. No extra tip is expected when service charge is already included.

How do I register for GST in Singapore?

Compulsory registration applies to businesses with annual taxable turnover above S$1 million. Voluntary registration is allowed below that threshold for input tax claims on business purchases.

When did GST go up to 9%?

GST rose from 7% to 8% on 1 January 2023, then from 8% to 9% on 1 January 2024. The two-step increase was announced in Singapore Budget 2022.
