How is BAH calculated for service members?
BAH depends on duty ZIP code, paygrade, and dependents status. The Department of Defense publishes annual rates each January. An E-5 with dependents at a high cost ZIP can receive $2,500 to $4,000 per month in 2026.
How is the ACFT score calculated?
The Army Combat Fitness Test scores 6 events (3-rep max deadlift, standing power throw, hand-release push-ups, sprint-drag-carry, plank, 2-mile run) on a scale of 0 to 100 each, for a maximum total of 600. The minimum to pass is 60 per event.
What is the difference between ACFT and APFT?
APFT used 3 events (push-ups, sit-ups, 2-mile run) and was scored by age and gender. ACFT replaced it with 6 events using a single performance standard regardless of age and gender, focused on combat tasks.
How are Army promotion points calculated?
Promotion points combine military training, awards, education (civilian and military), weapons qualification, and physical fitness. The maximum varies by paygrade. SGT and SSG max out at 800 points each in the current system.
How is Army body fat percentage calculated?
The Army uses tape measurements: neck and waist for males, plus hip for females. Values plug into a regression formula. A male with a 35 inch waist and 16 inch neck at 70 inches tall comes to roughly 17 percent body fat.
